The concept of Deep Fried Gumbo Supper Club stemmed from Chef’s Alex history with Salty Swine Supper Club. After Salty Swine grew into a full service restaurant, Alex decided he wanted to start a Supper Club of his own and Deep Fried Gumbo was born. The name, Deep Fried Gumbo, originated from Chef Alex’s very own take on the classic New Orleans dish, that you will see featured at every dinner.
Chef Alex Heath, currently the sous chef at Brown Butter Restaurant and a New Orleans native, graduated with honors from the culinary arts program at Delgado Community College in his hometown of New Orleans. Chef Alex’s resume includes popular local restaurants, such as Martin Wine Cellar, Salty Swine Supper Club and Ye Olde College Inn, where he served as Chef de Cuisine. Alex has won countless awards including best specialty king cake for Ye Olde Bake Shoppe, where he served as Pastry Chef, at the first annual King Cake Festival. Alex is now the Executive Chef & Owner of Deep Fried Gumbo Supper Club & Catering.
